Product Review - ISOBAA, Merino Wool

Merino Wool Clothing with Style

Product Review

Merino, it’s been something we’ve considered for a while now. But today we asked ourselves why had it taken us so long to give it a try, we’ve no idea! What we do know for certain is, we are now firm Merino wool and Isobaa fans! #joinourflock

We first spotted Isobaa on Instagram. We’ll admit it, the Insta phycological selling machine had worked! We had been hooked, and before we knew it we were on the Isobaa Website. For Mrs, it was the sight of a wee sheep on the front of a t-shirt that had been the hook, SHEEEPPYYY she sang out!! To be honest, we found some really functional kit that also looked cool!

We didn’t really want it for climbing hills, paddling or cycling, it was more for Van-life! That said, we’ve since used our new kit on all of the above.

Recently, this thing called COVID arrived, you may have heard of it! Unfortunately life and freedom really became restricted as did the places we could go. Quite honestly we prefer to keep ourselves to ourselves for now anyway! So, no more campsites to dip into here and there to sort out our admin. What this meant for us though was we’d have less opportunity to clean oir kit. Okay, and our bodies! Washing our kit was now off the table for now, due to...... Okay, before we go on, this will be the last time we mention the word.. ‘COVID’

Why Merino Wool

Merino wool is at the heart of what Isobaa do. Starting with this clever little yarn they can make a comfortable and versatile garment with all sorts of benefits - something you can throw on and rely on, particularly when it comes to being on the road for extended periods of time. Due to the natural properties of merino, it’s less necessary to wash your Isobaa after every wear, so can feel free to wear it for a few days before putting it through a wash – much kinder on the environment, and also saves you money on detergent.

RECYCLED AND REUSED

A little point on Isobaa kit that really influenced our choice was firstly, the gears actually really cool. Secondly, Isobaas strong desire to look after the planet. Almost as cool as the kit was the environmentally friendly packaging it comes in!

The team at Isobaa have taken the natural cycles of renewal and reuse in nature, and thought it would be pretty neat to create packaging from recycled and recyclable materials like cardboard, paper, and jute string. This little change helps us make a big difference in terms of how much waste packaging creates, and it looks good too!

OUR FINAL THOUGHTS

We have been approached by a number of product suppliers since we began our little community, well its actually not that little now! We’ve been very selective with those that we choose to align with as its incredibly important to us that we recommend quality to those that follow On the Adventure Trails - Scotland. Isobaa has just hit that list!

As you’ve seen, we tried a couple of t-shirts and hoodies. Mrs loves the wee sheepy logo on the front. For her, that was the clincher. I always had it in my mind that anything wool was perhaps going to be a little uncomfortable. WRONG, It’s actually very comfortable, just normal. Another reason we’ve kicked ourselves for not trying Moroni wool sooner!

We’d worn this gear for longer than a human should and it really is true, ZERO pong, that we know of anyway!! We did finally wrestle it into the washing machine though. It’s came back out of the machine in perfect order and still looking as good as new.

I like to think we’ve given the Isobaa kit a proper beasting and we’re super happy, just like that guy called Larry!! We’re now 100% fans of both Marino wool and Isobaa.

We hope this review has been helpful to you and wish you Safe Adventures in Scotland and elsewhere!
